OQuaSSA Updates

Good afternoon, OQuaSSA!

—The championship finals will be a best of 3 game series by the top two finishers. It should shortly after 3 PM as planned. —Please watch the championship finals! Our awards ceremony will take place on the livestream after the conclusion of the finals. There will be prizes for the top finishers but also prizes based on grade level. So keep playing strong to the end!

And a few reminders for players:

—Resignations are not allowed! You cannot quit or resign before a game ends. Please play to the end to be fair to your opponent.

—If your opponent does not appear at the start of play or resigns, or if you experience any other confusing situation, please text director Ben Greenwood at 339-223-4563.

—You cannot watch the livestream while you are playing. You cannot have any other open windows on your browser while playing. Your phone cannot be in the same room where you are playing. By participating in this event you have agreed NOT to use ANY source of word knowledge outside of your brain!

—Please check the standings to make sure your record is accurate.

—Good luck and have fun!

Livestream

Click here to watch live coverage by former North American Scrabble champion Will Anderson and a panel of experts and top high-school players. You can watch full coverage of Day 1 here.

Pairings

Click here to view round-by-round pairings. Pairings also are available in the results spreadsheet or the text standings linked below. Wait for your next round pairings after you finish your game.

Entering Results

Players will enter their game results in this Google Sheet. Enter each game on a single line. The winner will enter all fields except their opponent's handle. The opponent will sign the sheet by entering their own ISC handle in column I.

Players can also find their next-round pairings in this spreadsheet.

ISC Settings

Please check your ISC settings. Under Game Settings, enter 20 for "initial time (minutes per game),” select TWL from drop-down menu for dictionary, and select VOID from the drop-down menu for “challenge.” The setting for "challenge" is a change from the original instructions. Please select VOID instead of DOUBLE.

For all other questions, text Ben Greenwood at 339-223-4563.

Tournament Guidelines

Please review the OQuaSSA tournament guidelines, which include instructions for playing on ISC and other rules.

Word List

Because ISC does not include an option for the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary, OQuaSSA will be using the TWL, the source for sanctioned North American Scrabble Players Association play. The NASPA list includes "offensive" words and a few other words not found in the OSPD.

Click here to print a copy of the TWL Cheat Sheet, which differs slightly from the Cheat Sheet for school and home play. Players can use the Cheat Sheet to prepare for the tournament, but may not consult it during play.
