Several of the club's youth players turned in great results at the North American School Scrabble Championship held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on April 9-10. Stefan Fatsis' D.C. School Scrabble group had the biggest contingent at the tournament—11 of the 85 teams. Including other local players, D.C.-Maryland-Virginia placed five teams in the top 10 and nine in the top 20.

8th-graders Chloe Fatsis and Caleb Anderson of D.C. took 4th place with a 6-1 record and a spread of +637, winning $1,000. Chloe and Caleb were a blank or two from making the one-game finals, and they closed out their School Scrabble careers with four consecutive top 10 finishes at the championship. Among their most impressive bingos: ANTIGAY, VENISONS and MOVIEOLA.

North American SCRABBLE® Players Association (NASPA) Club 171 provides a friendly, convenient place to play SCRABBLE® in Washington, DC. We welcome crossword game enthusiasts, English language jocks, and others in search of a stimulating intellectual challenge. Come as you are, relax, and have fun!



Weekly Club Meetings
