North American SCRABBLE® Players Association (NASPA) Club 171 provides a friendly, convenient place to play SCRABBLE® in Washington, DC. We welcome crossword game enthusiasts, English language jocks, and others in search of a stimulating intellectual challenge. Come as you are, relax, and have fun!

Weekly Club Meetings

every Tuesday, 5:30 to 9:45 p.m.:

On the second floor of The Avenue restaurant, 5540 Connecticut Ave., N.W. (near the Friendship Heights Metro and on the L1/2 and E4 bus lines)

Free parking in lot behind restaurant off McKinley St., N.W.

Players must be fully vaccinated.

We welcome players of all levels. Players are paired with others of comparable ratings.

We maintain Weekly Reports on club activity.

Playing in our club, you may occasionally see 12-letter words like REILLUMINATE*, which is not acceptable in the NASPA Word List. In this case, one player played the phony LUMINATE, his opponent added IL to make the acceptable word ILLUMINATE, and the first player added RE to the beginning. (Photo by John Wilder)
