Game Clocks

Here we document useful procedures for the most common game clocks.

SamTimer

Manual: http://samtimer.com/manual

Setting Specific Start Times

This procedure is useful for providing players with a replacement clock partway through a game. IT can also be applied to adjust the hold interval (currently 15 seconds).

  1. Turn the clock on by pressing the center button once.
  2. Advance to the mode in which the start time is to be set by tapping the center button under the desired mode is reached. (For Scrabble®, this will probably be a mode displaying 25 or sometimes 20 minutes as the start.
  3. With the desired mode displayed, long press the center button until two beeps are heard and the leftmost digit of each display begins flashing.
  4. Tap the center button until the particular digit to be adjusted flashes.
    • If you go past a digit you want to adjust, you will need to cycle through other settings (such as the hold interval) before returning to the start time setting. You can do this as many times as necessary.
  5. Start times are adjusted independently for each side. To change a digit, tap the play switch over the display to be adjusted until the desired digit is displayed.
  6. To adjust more digits, return to step 4.
  7. When all adjustments are complete, long press the center button until two beeps are heard.
  8. To restore a standard start time, repeat the above procedure.

  8. When the right side is set, press "Select" again to finish. The clock is now ready for use with the new settings.

FlipTimer

Uses CR2032 batteries. Get a few extra while you're thinking of it.

It does not appear to be possible to set start times on the FlipTimer, aside from selecting from a menu of game lengths.
